Target group:
Participants from organisations dealing with projects and programmes of development cooperation in all fields being responsible or involved in activities of project cycle management. Knowledge of formalized planning procedures like logframe-planning and the use of project cycle management are appreciated.
Objectives:
Participants have a better understanding of the significance of “impact orientation” in the field of development cooperation and for their concrete project work. Participants are in a position to increase the impact of their projects by practicing impact oriented project planning and monitoring.
Contents:
After exploring the significance of impact orientation in development cooperation and for project work the workshop focuses on practical challenges of putting impact orientation into practice. The participants share their experiences with impact orientation in their field of work in order to learn from one another and to identify common difficulties which then again can also be worked on more intensely during the workshop. Project Cycle Management (PCM) and working with Logical Frameworks (Logframes) will shortly be reviewed to lay a common ground for the practical exercises: defining impacts and impact chains, setting up indicators and milestones, designing an appropriate monitoring system and using appropriate monitoring tools. All practical exercises start with a methodological introduction and are being practiced with concrete project examples (case studies). Finally, alternative approaches will shortly be presented and further reading and resources will be recommended and supplied with a CD-ROM to all participants.
